Mt Apsiring North West Ridge 28.02.2024 - 30.02.2024
Heading back up the Matukituki to climb the North West Ridge, a summer classic. The first day we made it up Bevan Col, across the Bonar glacier and stayed the night at Colin Todd hut.
We set off early on the 29th, and made fast progress as we had no ropes or gear with us. Following the full North West ridge, we made it to the summit just after sunrise and were back to Colin Todd just before the 8 hour mark, however this was just part of the day, with the big journey out to come. We then made the walk out via the Bonar glacier back to Aspiring hut. My feet were, frankly wrecked and we were both tired, so made the decision to stay at Aspiring hut, with the final walk out the day after.
