The Foostool via the Main Divide 20.11.2023-21.11.2023
Vincent and myself met up on the 20th November at Wyn Irwin lodge and made the hike up to Sefton Bivvy. We spent the night there, and made an early start up the main divide route. Relatively warm conditions meant even at 3am there was a fair amount of postholing, and on the way classic wet glacier conditions going past the waist in places. But still, for the most part the route was an easy climb, with the difficulty being the final summit rocks of a pitch and the final exposed ridge. We were later than ideal by probably an hour, meaning soft snow on the chossy summit rocks and summit ridge, breaking the rope out. We then abseiled down the rocks off of a snow stake and walked back to the village the same day.
